How the Scanner Works

Scan up to 25 job listings at once, ranked by how well they match your resume, without opening each one individually.

Quick Start

  1. 1
Go to a job search results page
Navigate to a search results page on a supported job board โ€” for example, search "project manager" on LinkedIn Jobs. The scanner reads the list of job cards on the left, not individual job pages.
  2. 2
    Open the CAIJA side panel
Click the CAIJA extension icon in your browser toolbar. If a popup appears, click Open Scanner. The side panel opens on the right side of your screen.
  3. 3
    Connect your account (first time)
If you see the yellow "Connect your account" banner, click the link to sign in to CAIJA. All registered tiers (Starter, Basic, Standard, and Essential) can use the scanner. You just need a resume saved to your account. The connection lasts about 12 minutes before a quick reconnect is needed.
  4. 4
    Click "Scan This Page"
The scanner reads up to 25 job cards visible on the page. It clicks each one to load the full description, scores it against your saved resume, then ranks all results by fit. This takes roughly 1 to 2 minutes for a full batch.
  5. 5
    Review and act
Results appear ranked highest to lowest. Click any card to expand the match and gap details. Use Analyze in CAIJA on promising jobs to run the full deep analysis: resume, cover letter, interview prep, and more.

Reading Your Results

Strong Match (80-100%)
Your resume covers the key requirements well. This is a high-priority application.
Good Match (60-79%)
Solid alignment with some gaps. A targeted resume and cover letter should address them.
Partial Match (40-59%)
Meaningful gaps exist between your profile and the role requirements.
Low Match (0-39%)
Significant gaps. Worth reviewing the full analysis before deciding to apply.

Matches and Gaps

Matches

Requirements from the job description that are represented in your saved resume. These are your strongest positioning points for this role.

Gaps

Requirements the job asks for that are not represented in your current resume. These are the areas to address when tailoring, or factors to weigh before applying.

Note on scoring accuracy: The scanner uses the same AI pipeline as the full CAIJA analysis. It evaluates evidence depth, keyword alignment, and requirement matching. Quick scores are highly accurate. Use the scanner to identify your top candidates, then run a full analysis on those for the complete gap breakdown and document generation.

Supported Job Boards

The scanner activates automatically when you are on a search results page of any board below. It does not activate on individual job pages, company pages, or your feed.

LinkedIn JobsIndeedGlassdoorZipRecruiterDiceWellfoundSimplyHired
Single-job popup extractor supports a broader set of boards including Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Workable, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Ashby, and more. Click the CAIJA icon on any individual job page to pre-load it into a full analysis.

Limits and Behavior to Know

๐Ÿ”ข
25 jobs per scan batch
The scanner reads up to 25 visible job cards per click. If the page shows more, a "Scan next N" button appears after the first batch so you can continue without scrolling or reloading.
๐Ÿ“Š
Daily scan allowance
Each click of the Scan button counts as one scan. Allowances by tier: Starter 3/day (plus a 10/week rolling cap), Basic 5/day, Standard 10/day, Essential 20/day. The counter resets at midnight UTC. If you reach your limit mid-scan, remaining jobs are added to a Skipped Jobs section marked with a Scan Limit badge.
๐Ÿ”„
Refresh the page after LinkedIn navigation
LinkedIn uses client-side navigation. Clicking search filters or new search terms changes the content without a full page load. The scanner activates at page load time. If you change your search, press Ctrl+R (Windows) or Cmd+R (Mac) to reload before scanning again.
โฑ๏ธ
Scan time: roughly 1 to 2 minutes per batch
The scanner opens each job card to read the full description, with a short delay between cards. This intentional pacing prevents the job board from detecting automated behavior. 25 jobs typically complete in 60 to 90 seconds.
๐ŸŽฏ
Scoring is based on your saved resume
The scanner scores each job against the resume stored in your CAIJA account. If you update your resume in CAIJA, the next scan will use the new version automatically.

Your Account and Connection

?
Why do I need to connect my account?
The scanner sends each job description to CAIJA and compares it to your saved resume. It needs to know who you are to retrieve your resume and verify your subscription tier. Your account credentials stay on caija.io. The extension only stores a short-lived session token.
?
How long does the connection last?
Session tokens expire after 15 minutes (an Appwrite platform limit). The extension treats them as stale after 12 minutes to stay safely ahead. When your session expires, a yellow banner appears. Click Reconnect and you will be signed back in within seconds.
?
How to reconnect
Click the Connect your account or Reconnect link in the yellow banner. You will be taken to caija.io/extension-connect. If you are already signed in it completes automatically in seconds. Return to the job board and scan again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the extension without creating an account?
Yes, partially. Without an account you are Unregistered. The extension's popup extractor is available on any supported job page at no cost with no sign-in required.

What Unregistered users get:
  • Works on 25+ major job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and more)
  • Automatically pulls the job description when you click the CAIJA icon on any job page
  • Sends you to caija.io with the job pre-loaded, ready for a full analysis
  • Access to the full document suite (resume, cover letter, interview prep, elevator pitch) via caija.io: 3 Starter analyses per 28 days, no account needed
What Unregistered users do NOT get:
  • Search Scanner (bulk ranking of a search results page): this requires a connected account with a saved resume on file
  • Saved analysis history, career memory, or goal tracking
Creating a free account at caija.io and saving a resume there is all you need to unlock the Search Scanner on the Starter tier.
Why does the same job appear in all my results?
This happens when the page content script did not load, usually because you navigated to the search page using LinkedIn's own menu (client-side navigation) rather than a full browser load. Fix: press Ctrl+R (Windows) or Cmd+R (Mac) to fully reload the page, then scan again. The scanner activates at page load time and needs a fresh load to attach to the job list.
The scan completed but shows 0 jobs scored.
The most common causes: (1) Your session expired โ€” reconnect using the yellow banner and scan again. (2) No resume on file โ€” the scanner scores jobs against your saved resume. (3) The page is not a search results page โ€” the scanner only works on job list pages, not on individual job pages. (4) The extension was just installed or updated โ€” reload the tab after installing or updating the extension.
Do I need a resume on file to use the scanner?
Yes. The scanner scores each job against the resume stored in your CAIJA account.

(1) Run a full analysis at caija.io/analyze. Upload your resume, paste a job description, and run the analysis. Your resume is saved to your account automatically.

(2) Save a resume in Document Builder at caija.io. Use the AI-powered resume builder to create and save a resume. No job description needed.

If no resume is on file, every job will return an error instead of a score. The scanner always uses your most recently saved resume.
Can I scan more than 25 jobs?
Yes. After a batch of 25 completes, a blue "Scan next N" button appears at the top of the results list if the page has more jobs. Click it to score the next batch. Results from all batches accumulate in a single ranked list, subject to your daily scan allowance.
What does the "Scan Limit" badge mean in the skipped jobs section?
A Scan Limit badge means the scanner reached your daily scan allowance before it could score that job. The job was not skipped because of a problem with the posting: your allowance simply ran out mid-batch.

Daily scan allowances:
  • Starter: 3 scans/day + 10 scans/week (7-day rolling)
  • Basic: 5 scans/day
  • Standard: 10 scans/day
  • Essential: 20 scans/day
All counters reset at midnight UTC. Jobs with a Scan Limit badge cannot be retried in the current session: wait for your allowance to reset, then run a new scan.
How accurate is the quick score compared to a full CAIJA analysis?
The quick score uses the same AI pipeline as the full CAIJA analysis, so it is highly accurate for triage and ranking. The full CAIJA analysis goes further: it generates your tailored resume, cover letter, interview prep guide, and elevator pitch, and provides a detailed gap breakdown with specific recommendations. Think of quick scoring as the shortlist tool, and full analysis as the preparation tool for jobs that made that shortlist.
Does the scanner submit my resume to the job board?
No. The scanner reads job descriptions from the page and sends them to CAIJA's servers for scoring. Your resume stays in your CAIJA account and is never transmitted to LinkedIn, Indeed, or any other job board. The extension only interacts with caija.io.
The "Analyze in CAIJA" button โ€” what does it do?
It opens caija.io/analyze in a new tab and pre-loads the job description from that result. You can then run the full analysis to generate a tailored resume, cover letter, interview prep guide, and elevator pitch, all matched to that specific job. This uses one of your monthly analysis credits.
Why does the scan take so long?
For each job, the scanner clicks the card and waits for the full description to load before reading it. This gives accurate data for scoring instead of just the short snippet visible on the card. A short randomized pause between each card prevents LinkedIn's automated behavior detection from blocking the scan. 25 jobs typically complete in 60 to 90 seconds.
I do not see the scanner on a job board I use. Can it be added?
The current scanner supports LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Dice, Wellfound, and SimplyHired. Support for additional boards is on the roadmap. The single-job popup extractor (Phase 1) supports a broader set of boards including Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Workable, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Ashby, and more. Use the popup on boards not yet supported by the scanner.
Why might my score vary slightly if I run a full analysis more than once?
Every full CAIJA analysis is a fresh, independent AI evaluation. Because large language models use floating-point vector calculations, scores may vary by up to ~3% between runs on identical inputs. This is normal for all LLM-based systems. Your overall alignment tier (Strong, Moderate, Low, or Minimum) will remain consistent. Quick scanner scores are deterministic and do not vary.
I need help or something is not working as expected.
Use the Report an Issue link in the footer of any CAIJA page at caija.io. Include what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps a lot. The team reviews all reports and you will receive an email update when the issue is assigned and again when it is resolved.
